This is my body. And I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it. Study
it. Tweak it. Listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I
on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day. What are you on?"

Prep Phase 1 Complete
As promised, I'm finally writing a long overdue training update. I'm completed my first training mesocycle. Wow, what a crazy 4 weeks it was...
Week 1: I attempted to establishing a pattern. Life has been crazy enough that I have been planning my week on the sunday before the week begins, fitting training around my life. I did all my strength training, I established my training zones on the bike, and I ran 20 miles that week. My goal is 4 runs and 4 bikes a week, and I succeeded on week 1. I logged around 8 hours of training this week.
Week 2: I spent this week in Missouri. In fact it was my last week there before the big move, where we would move Lana to Illinois after nearly a year of being apart! I ran 22 miles, including 8 miles in a snow storm. I also did a virtual climb of mount Kilimanjaro in a 3 hour long spin class. Wow, that was alot of climbing! I logged around 10 hours this week.
Week 3: This was the toughest week of training I've ever experienced...I had alot of training to fit in around Lana's big move. I did all my long stuff in the front of the week, which was very tough because I did most of my long stuff from the previous week later on. This resulted in 6 "long" workouts in a row. On Monday I did an 8 mile run on the track. On Tuesday I did a 2 hour bike ride. Wednesday was my long swim and a 30 minute bike ride. Thursday was a 1 hour bike ride and a 4 mile run. On Friday I did a 30 minute swim, a 5 mile run, and then drove 6 hours to missouri to help Lana pack. Saturday I packed...and packed...and packed...and ran 5 miles. On Sunday we drove to Missouri, which took about 8 hours in a snow storm, we unpacked, and I finished my week with a 4 mile run at almost midnight. Brutal.
Week 4: Recovery! I only training about 6 hours this week. I spent some time calculating LTHR for my run and setting up run training zones. Other than that I just enjoyed the reduced volume and a little bit of a break.
Today is the first day of Base 1, and things are about to get busy. While the work ahead seems daunting I'm less concerned than I have ever been. I know that having Lana here will make everything much more possible, and not having to drive to Missouri twice a month will be a big time savings.

Swim, Bike, Run, Eat: The food keeping me going
Sorry all, not many updates lately. Training for IM 70.3 Steelhead is going well, but taking alot out of me. Look for a training update in about two weeks during my first "easy" week.
Until then, here is some of the food keeping me going.
Fish Tacos:
White corn tortillas, cod (cooked in the microwave), broccoli slaw, and avacado. Served with steamed broccoli. The entire thing can come together in about 15 minutes from frozen/refrigerated. This is good "busy triathlete food" for sure!
A quick frittata:
Sauted red bell peppers and wilted spinach cooked with 4 egg beaters then topped with pecorino romano cheese and put under the broiler until GB&D.
Chicken Fingers:
Grilled chicken fingers with a bit of BBQ sauce.
Served with a microwave baked sweet potato with cinnamon and brown sugar (or it might have been splenda).
Oh yeah, and you better believe that's a guiness!
While I'm on the topic of nutrition, training has my calorie intake up to just under 3,000 calories a day and...I'm loosing weight still. I'm certainly gaining muscle, based on my performance improvements in training, however I'm still down about 3 more pounds. Oh well, I guess I have to eat more. Sigh...
